Improper external and energy policy of the Europe and political re-orientation of Turkey prevent Azerbaijan to play more significant role in the energy safety of European Union, said on Tuesday the Canadian analyst Robert Cutler at the roundtable session in Baku devoted to the impact of geopolitical factors on Azerbaijan's energy strategy.
Representative of Canada's Carleton University expressed assurance that Europe will increase efforts for the realization of Nabucco project.
"Eight or ten years ago some European politicians though that after the collapse of the USSR Russia will be a part of Europe, but it did not happen. Russia's behavior in the gas conflict with Ukraine proved that, he said. "Today it is obvious that Russia can use energy dependence of Europe for political purposes", he noted.
Cutler considers that Nabucco is more real than Southern Stream.
